Testing Center at Sam Houston State University

We are an open testing facility (testing currently enrolled SHSU students as well as those who are not SHSU students) and encourage people from all walks and stages of life to utilize our facilities for testing purposes. We charge a non-refundable/non-transferable registration/administration fee for each test we administer in the Testing Center, in addition to any test fees charged by the testing companies.

For your convenience we have fast and secure online registration for the exams listed below. There is an additional $3 charge from RegisterBlast, our online payment processing provider. All online registrations are final and no refunds will be given.

  • ACCUPLACER

    ACT-Residual - REQUIREMENTS: Students wishing to take the ACT Residual test at Sam Houston State University must have applied for admission or be an enrolled student at SHSU before being allowed to take the ACT Residual test. Click here for REQUIRED ACT-Residual details.

    CLEP - RESTRICTIONS FOR SHSU STUDENTS: Effective August 24, 2009, the Department of Foreign Languages will not allow students classified as seniors to take the CLEP Foreign Language exams; Effective March 2009, the Department of English will not allow graduating seniors to take the CLEP English exams during their final semester at SHSU; and all other SHSU students taking CLEP English exams will not be allowed to take those exams during the last two months of a semester.

  • DSST - Effective March 2009, Department of English will not allow graduating seniors to take the DSST English exam during their final semester at SHSU.

    If you prefer to take a paper/pencil DSST test please contact the Testing Center directly. These tests take a minimum of two weeks to order.
