Welcome to The Ohio State University Testing Center! We provide testing for a wide variety of exams, including national testing, Credit by Examination, MAT, correspondence, and many more computer-based offerings. For your convenience we have fast and secure online registration for the exams listed below. Click on the appropriate link to register online.

PAYMENT OPTIONS
The payment options for registering online are Visa, MasterCard, or electronic check. All online registrations are final and no refunds will be given. Cash or credit card will not be accepted. Please refer to the Administration Fee in each exam's description for acceptable payment options.

American Council on the Teaching of Foreign Language (ACTFL)

Formerly proctored from the Department of Teaching and Learning, ACTFL administrations are now available in the Testing Center. Students from other institutions should contact their respective institutions.

Autumn Semester Proficiency Test (ASPT)

Autumn Semester Proficiency Test registration will be available in June 2015.

Autumn Semester Proficiency Tests are for INCOMING FRESHMEN ONLY. Upperclassmen should refer to EM Test.

Registration Information
Autumn Semester Proficiency Tests have no administration fee.
Students must be sure to register for the correct test based upon their math placement level or prior math credit. This information can be found on the Math Department's website.
You must schedule your appointment at least 24 hours in advance of your test date.
Arrive to your test 15 minutes early. You will not be allowed to test if you are 30 minutes late. Students arriving late will not be allowed time that has already passed.
Only non-graphing calculators are permitted for Math 1050 and 1075. A graphing calculator without a QWERTY keyboard is allowed for use on the rest of the tests, but you must justify all of your work to get credit. Cell phones and other electronic devices are prohibited.
Students unsure about which test to schedule schould contact the Math advisors.
By 5:00PM on the business day following the test, only those students who have passed their tests will receive an email from the Math advisors at their Ohio State email accounts.

Class Quizzes

Professors can elect to send their students to the Testing Center to complete a quiz, midterm, or exam. The available dates for the quizzes should be noted in the class syllabus. Class quizzes can be computer-based or paper-based.
This is not the same as a Make-Up Exam. To register for an exam that was missed during regular class time, see Make-Up Exam.

 

College Level Examination Program (CLEP)

Registration and Exam Fee
CLEP examination fee: $80 payable to College Board during their online registration process
CLEP administration fee: $30 payable to Ohio State during the online registration process
After registration and payment on the College Board website, a ticket ID will be sent to the email address that you provided during registration. You must bring your ticket ID to your appointment.
All CLEP exams are offered on computer only.
This location (The Ohio State University Testing Center) is an "open" CLEP testing center, meaning both Ohio State students as well as members of the public are welcome to complete a CLEP exam at this location.
Scores may be sent to Ohio State or to any other program or university.
The Testing Center Brochure lists the current required scores and credit awarded for CLEP exams completed by Ohio State students.

Correspondence Exams, DSST (DANTES), and Proctoring Services

The Ohio State University Testing Center participates with many institutions of higher learning as a Correspondence Exam testing center in both computer-based and paper-based formats. Prospective candidates should contact their host institutions to verify this location as acceptable for proctoring.

Registration and Exam Fee
Correspondence administration fee: $25 per hour, payable to Ohio State by check or money order on the day of the exam
Certain Correspondence Exams are $50, payable to Ohio State during the online registration process.
Candidates should have their host institution send exam materials to the Testing Center before scheduling an exam. To find out if your exam materials have been received by the Testing Center, send an email to esue-testing@osu.edu or call (614) 292-2241.

Examination Mark (EM) and Examination Mark (EM) for Veterans

EM Tests are constructed by Ohio State faculty members and administered by the Testing Center.

Registration and Test Fee
EM Test administration fee: $60 payable to Ohio State during the online registration process
EM Test for Veterans administration fee: none
If a requisite is listed for an EM Test, students may be asked to provide written evidence of having met that requirement.
Some EM Tests require departmental referrals. Make sure referrals are obtained before scheduling a test. There are no refunds.
Students beginning their first semester at Ohio State are not permitted to complete EM Tests until the first day of class.
EM Tests are offered for currently enrolled undergraduate students. Graduate students are ineligible to receive credit for an EM Test, but EM Tests may be used for placement into higher-level courses. Students should consult their academic advisors if they are unsure about their eligibility.
EM Tests are offered year-round, including academic breaks.
EM Tests are not repeatable.
Receiving a mark (U, W, any grade, etc.) for a course makes students ineligible to take the EM Test for that course.
Students may take EM Tests for courses in which they are currently enrolled up through the first Friday of the semester of enrollment in the course. Students wishing to take EM Tests for courses in which they are enrolled after the first Friday of the semester must first drop the course. This enrollment restriction does not apply during academic breaks.

Note: Departmental Exams are scheduled through their respective departments, NOT the Testing Center.

Make-Up Exam

Testing Center staff administer and store all exams in a secure, monitored environment. This service is only available to students on the Columbus campus.

Exam Scoring and Credit
There is no fee to students or academic departments for Make-Up Exam administration, but if Exam Scoring Services is scoring the exam, the instructor's department will be charged the standard scanning batch fees.

Please make sure that the Testing Center has received all exam materials before scheduling an exam.

Miller Analogies Test (MAT)

Registration and Test Fee
MAT administration fee: $75 payable to Ohio State during the online registration process

ParaPro Assessment

Registration and Test Fee
Administration Fee: $25 payable to Ohio State by check or money order on the day of the test

Placement Test (English, Latin, Math)

Registration and Test Fee
There is no fee to students.
Some Placement Tests require departmental referrals. Make sure referrals are obtained before scheduling a test.
Students who have already attended Orientation or started classes need to contact Math Advising in order to obtain a referral before scheduling a Math Placement Test.
Math Proficiency Exams for specific classes (Math 1050, Math 1075, etc.) are available for selection under Examination Mark (EM).
The Latin Placement Test is the only language placement test that is administered by the Testing Center. All other language placement tests are administered by their respective departments. You can find out more about language placement tests in the Testing Center Brochure.
