FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Why does the scheduler say that “all times are full”?
You have either missed the 24-hour registration deadline or all appointment slots are taken.
I am trying to schedule a test for a specific day - why am I unable to choose any appointment slots?
If the scheduler does not allow you to choose a specific day then the Testing Center is either closed or your professor has not updated the specific test's window of availability to allow you to do so.
My professor instructed me to schedule a makeup or accommodative exam at the Testing Center. Why is my exam not listed on the registration website?
Tests are only listed if the Testing Center has received the administration directions from your professor. If you do not see your specific test listed, your professor has not submitted it. In this instance, choose one of the premade appointment templates labeled “Proctored Exam.” If you are unsure of the time allotment for your test, an estimate is okay. We will adjust the time if needed once we receive it from your professor.
How do I ensure that my DAS accommodation applies to my testing appointment?
We make every effort to ensure that your accommodation is fulfilled but to ensure that it is not missed, be sure to access RegisterBlast through Canvas. If the RegisterBlast tab does not appear in your Canvas course, contact your professor to enable it. If your professor has not enabled RegisterBlast for your course, you can access it on the Testing Center website. RegisterBlast will only recognize that you have accommodations when you are accessing it through Canvas or while logged in to your account on a web browser! To attach your accommodations while registering on the web browser, sign into RegisterBlast with your University of Missouri System email address (sso@umsystem.edu). You must use the password reset tool to set a password. Do not use sso@mail.umsl.edu or a personal email address.
What do I need to bring to my testing appointment?
Please bring your photo ID (student ID, driver's license, or any other official, physical ID with your picture is fine) and any special items allowed for the exam, like a calculator, note sheet, etc. You will be provided with a key to a locker to store personal items like a backpack, cell phone, smart watches, food items, etc. Our office supplies writing utensils, scratch paper, earplugs, and hand sanitizer.
What if I do not have a photo ID?
To ensure that FERPA regulations and NCTA standards are followed, if you do not have a photo ID and we do not know who you are, we are unable to administer your test and you will be asked to reschedule for a time when you can present valid photo identification.
I forgot to schedule my exam. Could I test as a walk-in?
No, the Testing Center is an appointment-based service. Walk-ins and same-day requests are not allowed. It is the student's responsibility to make arrangements before the test date, including ensuring that devices meet the requirements for online proctoring software. If a student arrives at the Testing Center without an appointment, they will be asked to contact their professor to make alternate arrangements. To provide fair and equitable services, there are no exceptions to the appointment policy.
My test is open-book and/or open-note. Can I bring my laptop or a tablet?
No. To ensure that University academic integrity and conduct standards, FERPA regulations, NCTA standards, and testing company contract requirements are followed, personal electronics are not permitted in the testing room. You are welcome to use a Testing Center computer to access your ebook, digital notes, or other courseware materials. ExamSoft-enabled laptops are permitted and are the only exceptions to this policy.
Can my child wait with the proctor(s) while I am taking my exam?
No. Children and visitors are not allowed in the testing room, and children under 12 years of age cannot be left unattended in the reception area, hallways, or anywhere else on campus. The proctors will not babysit or assume responsibility for your child as it is a liability to the University. For more information please view the University’s guidelines for children on campus.
Why does my professor say that the Testing Center has not returned my exam yet?
How quickly your test is received by your professor depends on the method by which they request it is returned. If they request a PDF scan, it will be uploaded to Google Drive and a link sent to them on the same day. If they request to pick it up, it will be held in the Testing Center until they come to pick it up. If they request campus interoffice mail, it will be picked up by UMSL Postal Services, who will deliver it to your professor's mailbox.
I am allowed up to two hours for my exam but I only registered for one hour. Will I still receive my full time allotment?
We can adjust the timing of your appointment to ensure that you receive the full time allotted. However, all tests must be submitted by closing time with no exceptions. Students are solely responsible for scheduling appointments appropriately to utilize the maximum time available for testing.
What if the University closes due to inclement weather?
The Testing Center is closed any time the University is closed or cancels in-person operations for inclement weather, holidays, or other occurrences. Your appointment will automatically be canceled and we will send you a notification by email and text (if opted in to text notifications). You are welcome to reschedule your appointment but be sure to also reach out to your professor to find out if they want you to do something different. Non-students will be notified of campus closures by email and text (if opted in to text notifications).
